HEART DISEASE STROKE

Welcome to our website. Heart Disease and Stroke are very serious matters so we’ll get right to it:

According to the Center for Disease Control, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Cancer is the second leading cause of death and then, stroke is the third leading cause of death. Heart disease and stroke are related. According to the American Heart Association, people with a diseased heart are at an increased risk for a stroke. Specifically, “the atrial fibrillation (the rapid uncoordinated quivering of the heart’s upper chambers), in particular, raises the risk for stroke.” Conversely, many survivors of a stroke are at higher risk for a heart attack. Though not specifically stated in laymen’s terms on the CDC Website or American Heart Association Website, it makes sense that the two diseases are related in that both diseases can inflict a tremendous amount of strain on the cardiovascular system. See the chart below for a list of risk factors:

**The American Heart Association also lists heart disease as a risk

factor for stroke. Therefore, the risk factors that increase the chances

of heart disease indirectly increase the risk of stroke. They specifically

mention obesity, high blood pressure and physical inactivity.

***Drug Abuse was listed as “certain types of drug abuse” specifically

mentioning intravenous drug use and Cocaine.

Those are the risk factors as outlined by the American Heart Association and as we build out our website, we’ll continue to post definitions, sources, results of clinical studies and any factual information we can find. We want to make it easy for you to find information. We will also bring you information about prevention and cure. We’ll review different products that promote heart healthy living, exercise techniques for all ages, pharmaceuticals, side effects of certain pharmaceuticals and list the surgery options. When it comes to more scientific reviews like pharmaceuticals and surgery options, our “reviews” will be posting the facts as stated by Doctors and Pharmaceutical Companies. When it comes to diet and exercise, we’ll post the facts but we’re also more likely to post some opinions as well! We appreciate any feedback from our readers. We’re very adept at organizing information so if there is something you would like us to research, just let us know: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
